Multitasking on your phone…

I don’t know about you.

But one of the things that annoys me the most…

People that go on their phones while you’re talking to them.

Recently, someone asked me if I had any tips on how to be more interesting during a conversation.

My answer to them was:

Be more present and give people your full attention.

In today’s world, this is probably one of the biggest gifts you can give someone.

People aren’t used to truly being heard or listened to.

They’re used to people one-upping them or reflecting their own stories onto them.

And when most people listen, they listen with the intent to reply not to understand.

This is what allows them to keep a conversation going while on their phone and then claim to be good at multitasking.

If you truly want to stand out as someone interesting, one of the first things you can do is listen with the intent to understand.

Be curious, ask questions and give people your full attention.

Don’t be the person that’s on their phone all the time and claims to be good at multitasking.

Be the person that is present and truly listens to people.

What about you? What do you think of people that go on their phones while speaking to you?
