“I hate Paris and never want to go to Venice’’

This last month my girlfriend and I have been on a bit of a romantic spree.

We spent weekends in two of the most romantic cities: Paris & Venice.

In both cases, I had strong negative beliefs about each city.

I had been to Paris before and really not liked it.

And I remember my parents coming back from a winter trip to Venice and complaining about how cold, crowded and smelly it was.

So I wasn’t very excited about the prospect of going to both of these cities.

However it turns out, I had the most amazing time.

We got so lucky with the weather, I was blown away by the architecture and the majesty of both cities. The crowds were very thin and the food was unbelievable.

All I could think about when we got back was when we could go again.

If I had not put myself in a position to question my old beliefs, I would have missed out on re-discovering these amazing cities.

In our lives we develop a multitude of beliefs.

They help us make sense of and navigate this complex world.

They are patterns that our brains expect the world to conform to and help us avoid danger by learning from previous experiences.

But sometimes they really don’t serve us and can actually be quite limiting.

While having a negative belief about a city is rarely going to affect your life, having a negative belief around money could significantly reduce your ability to be financially stable.

Having a negative belief around love, could reduce your ability to find a steady partner.

Or having a negative belief about yourself (ie. believing you're not enough), could reduce your ability to live a fulfilling life.

We spend most of our lives looking for evidence to confirm and justify our beliefs, which can make them very strong and not easy to let go of.

But with time and coaching it’s possible to transform these beliefs into new ones.

The key is to first identify them and put yourself in a position where you can really question them.

And just like how I now love Paris and Venice, it’s possible for you to see money as something abundant, love as something you deserve and yourself as worthy of greatness.
If you are ready to embark on that journey, feel free to book a call with me or send me a DM.

What would you say your most persistent limiting belief is?
