The ONE thing that always helps reduce my anxiety

On my birthday a few weeks ago I was very fortunate to get to see the sunset on the Southern West coast of Portugal.

As I sat there watching the massive ball of fire disappear behind the horizon, I was taken aback by its beauty and the vastness of it.

It also got me thinking about our solar system and how we are all essentially just tiny dots attached to a ball moving in space at 67000 miles per hour.

For a moment there I started feeling very small and part of something so much bigger than myself.

This sudden perspective change helped me see life differently for a short moment.

It made me question the importance of most of the things that had been worrying me that week.

It made me feel like a lot of my problems were much smaller than I made them out to be.

This didn’t last for long but it was significant enough to make me think twice about my priorities and the actual severity of some of my problems.

The vastness of nature and realising how small I was in the world also made my problems smaller.

So next time you are feeling stressed or surrounded only by problems, try doing something that makes you realise how big and beautiful nature is.

Go for a walk in a forest, get out of the city and watch the stars, find your closest hill and watch a sunset.

If none of these are available to you, watch a David Attenborough documentary on Netflix.

It won’t be a permanent fix but it will remind you that it’s possible to see things differently and that you’re part of something much bigger.

What’s your favorite awe inspiring Nature spot?
